Sad news. What a batch of keepers they had back then. Clemence, Shilton, Corrigan and Parkes. Any one of them would coast it as England's keeper for years now. Remember his great save from a Tonka free kick just before the penalty in 1981 League Cup Final. RIP.

Clemence replaced Banks for England just as I was becoming aware of football as a kid so he was the main man between the sticks for me. RIP

Even though I was Mervyn Day in the playground, I also loved Clemence as the England keeper. I had the keeper's jersey, bright yellow with black stripes, rough and itchy as fuck.
